Merchandiser

SUMMARY:
A Ballito-based client is looking for a proactive Merchandiser to join their team.We are a merchandise supplier that has been in business for over 7 years. We currently supply the likes of but not limited to the Mr Price Group, Retailability, Senqu, Contempo, Jumbo, Jam Clothing. 

We supply menswear, ladieswear and kidswear across woven and knits. We also supply headwear accessories (mens, ladies, kids). Our factories are split between China and India. 

Our offices are based in Salt Rock and our warehouse is in Durban.The candidate will be required to travel to Durban from time to time depending on customer and warehouse requirements. Hence the candidate will need a drivers license and transport. Should the candidate be based in Durban, special arrangements will need to be discussed and agreed.

Responsibilities:

• Trend Identification: Analyse global fashion trends in line with customer requirements, provide customer feedback on market trends that identify opportunities.
• Sourcing: Collaborate with buyers to select and source ranges that align with the company's brand and target market.
• Merchandising Strategies: Develop and implement merchandising strategies that maximize sales and profitability.
• Supplier and Distributor Relations: Build and maintain relationships with suppliers and distributors to negotiate prices and ensure timely order delivery.
• Communication and Collaboration: Communicate effectively with buyers, suppliers, distributors.
• Market Research: Stay updated on industry trends and changes in consumer behaviour.

• Communication skills: Ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders.
• Negotiation skills: Ability to negotiate prices and terms with suppliers.
• Organisational skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Such as the retail critical path – from order briefing to on time and in full deliveries
• Teamwork skills: Ability to work effectively with other team members.
• Presentation skills: Ability to present product ranges to our customers clearly and concisely.
