Mine Manager with Quarry Management experience and Project Management experience required to drive a newly established quarry operation in the Botswana outback

POSITION INFO:

Summary of what our recruitment specs are:

• Our client is looking for a Mine Manager with Project Management experience to drive a newly established quarry operation.
• Must have solid experience with adhering to all legislative requirements by leading, directing and managing the operational and business objectives efficiently.Must have at least 15 years’ experience gained within the Mining or Quarries Industries
• Granite experience a definite advantage

Nationality: Botswana / Expat with long term working visa and relevant credentials to work in Botswana This is not negotiable

Qualifications:

• Tertiary Degree in Mining Engineering
• Mine Manager’s Certificate
• Valid Botswana blasting license for open pit operations
• Must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience approved by the Chief Government Mining Engineer (CGME)

Job Description:

• Responsible for planning the operating budget for the mine and controlling expenditure
• Conducting of inspections as well as providing guidance and advice to the asset management process.
• Managing the operations, and ensuring Legal Safety compliance
• Required to manage labour and performance and ensuring production targets are achieved.
• Safe Production – Managing production operations and make appropriate adjustments to deliver agreed volumes at optimal productivity and cost in normal time
• Ensure health & safety obligations & accountabilities are being met and strive to reduce risk across the operation with strong risk management skills
• Ensuring execution of engineering and maintenance strategies / plans
• Overall accountability for strategy to strive towards best in class safety performance and continuous improvement of key safety metrics
• Required to set up schedules, places orders, track production, and engage in all other administrative requirements
• Oversee the recruitment and development of superintendents, supervisors, and operators, providing support, encouragement, advice and guidance to build an effective workforce
• Unionised environment in which union and employee engagement is critical
• Mentoring of interns where required
