INTRODUCTION:
Our client, west of Postmasburg in the Northern Cape, requires the services of a Mining Engineer.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENT:
- Grade 12 (Required);
- GCC Mine Manager Certificate (Alternative);
- Bachelor Degree in Mining Engineering (Required).
EXPERIENCE AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Two (2) Years Supervisory Or Management Experience (Required);
- Six (6) Years Mine Engineering Within An Opencast Mining Environment (Required);
- Valid code B driving license (Required).
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES:
- Behavioural: business acumen, leadership skills, relationship building skills, results driven personality and change management skills;
- System Skills: Enterprise Resource Planning Systems, Microsoft Office, Mine Planning Software, Geology Software.
- Professional Status: ECSA (Recommended)
- Technical: Mining Competency A
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Business intelligence and trend analyses;
- Functional process optimisation;
- Provide strategic functional direction;
- Promote statutory compliance;
- Plan, implement, control and monitor approved changes;
- Interpret mining operational plan and production results;
- Implement operations effectiveness model and practice;
- Provide input into functional planning;
- Remain up to date with micro- and macro-economic conditions;
- Analyse production asset performance trends against required objectives, implement corrective actions where needed;
- Implement cost control system;
- Internal and external stakeholder relations;
- Provide highly specialised support to various stakeholders;
- Participate in and contribute to the workforce planning process;
- Team development and training.
CLOSING STATEMENT:
- The successful incumbent will be appointed subject to being certified medically fit as per the Mine Health and Safety Act 29/1996 and meeting the requirements of the Company’s Code of Practice – Minimum Standards of Fitness to perform work at a Mine.
- He/she may also undergo a psychometric assessment.
- The abovementioned position is a D3on the Patterson grading.
- The successful candidate that conforms to all said requirements and experience will be appointed on this grading. The successful candidate will be appointed on a 6 month probation period.
