Position: Mining Engineer Design & Scheduling (2-year Fixed Term Contract)
Section: Lift II Underground – Horizontal Development/UC & Drawbells
Grade C5
The Mining Engineer Design & Scheduling will form part of a team responsible to lead and execute
mining engineering activities in the technical role to support underground horizontal development,
undercutting & drawbells. The role will focus on mine design, planning, scheduling and data analysis,
to enable better planning processes and give relevant feedback.
Key responsibilities will include:
• Ensuring optimal utilization of production resources in line with long term planning
• Generating and distribution of long-term and short-term production plans
• Generating reconciliation of actual versus planned and analyses reasons for variances and
report on outcomes and causes
• Creating and compiling reporting of production figures to relevant stakeholders
• Overseeing the Contractor’s mining engineering activities
• Identifying process and procedural improvements to improve service and timely deliver to
internal clients
• Develop and effectively implement plans for continuous improvement initiatives
• Responsible for all mining engineering duties for the execution and technical departments

Qualifications & Experience:
• Tertiary Qualification – B-Degree in Mining Engineering
• Blasting Certificate for Underground Metalliferous Mines/Mechanised mines
• Mine Overseers Certificate of Competency will be an advantage
• Mine Manager’s Certificate of Competency (Metalliferous Mines) will be an advantage
• At least three years underground mining experience in a trackless mobile mining environment
