Mining Technical Services Manager

SUMMARY:
Seeking a rounded Mining Engineer with exposure to VOHE, Mine Planning, Geology, Rock Engineering and Health and Safety Compliances.

POSITION INFO:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS: 

• B degree/B Tech in Mining Engineering / Geology or Rock Engineering is essential
• Minimum of 5 year’s working experience as an appointed Technical Services Manager is essential
• Minimum of 12 years mining / technical services related working experience, preferably in a conventional  mining environment
• Professional registration with relevant mining associations
• Other relevant Certificate of Competency for Technical Services or Mine Manager ’s Certificate of Competency
• Job related knowledge and exposure to the following fields:- Stoping, Development, Shafts, Mine Planning, Survey, Ventilation, Rock Engineering, Geology

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Champion safety as the foremost priority at the operation
• Develop and implement the strategic plan for the mine and directly assist the Operations Executive in the strategic management process.
• Management of the geotechnical, VOHE and survey functions for the mine
• Lead and direct all aspects of geological and exploration programmes as well and conduct project techno-economics evaluation
• Provide geological advice in order to support other management and operations functions in line with the organizations’ strategic priorities
• Oversee underground mine excavation design and monitoring
• Ensure the development of long term strategic planning through the provision of direction on mining layout and the development of surveying systems
• Ensure compliance of subordinates to regulations and standard
• Develop management processes and systems to ensure that the technical services function is aligned to and supports the overall operational performance objectives.
• Ensuring effective cross functional coordination between geology, mine planning, survey and VOHE for the provision of efficient and effective technical services.
• Oversee management of mine planning strategies for alignment to business objectives
• Deliver timely and high-quality technical support for the mining operations;
• Oversee underground mine excavation design and monitoring
• Prepare short, medium and long term planning and scheduling;
• Prepare annual mine plans and budget;
