Tour Consultant Location: Somerset West, Western Cape Position Type: Full-Time About the Role: We are seeking an enthusiastic, customer-focused, and experienced Tour Consultant to join our dynamic team in Somerset West. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing and selling tailor-made travel experiences, managing bookings, and delivering exceptional customer service throughout the client journey. This role requires strong destination knowledge, excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and a passion for creating memorable travel experiences. Key Responsibilities: 1.Client Interaction & Consultation: Assess client needs, preferences, and budgets to create customized travel solutions. Provide expert advice on destinations, travel requirements, visa regulations, and itinerary options. Respond promptly and professionally to client enquiries and requests. Build and maintain long-term relationships with clients through exceptional service. Deliver a high standard of customer care to ensure client satisfaction and repeat business. 2. Intenary Planning & Design Design and prepare detailed, personalized travel itineraries. Arrange accommodations, transportation, tours, activities, and excursions. Research and recommend suitable destinations, attractions, and travel experiences. Ensure itineraries align with client expectations, budgets, and travel timelines. Continuously enhance travel offerings through innovative and unique travel experiences. 3. Quoting & Sales Prepare accurate and competitive quotations for individual and group travel. Convert enquiries into confirmed bookings through effective sales techniques. Upsell and cross-sell travel products and services to maximize revenue opportunities. Achieve individual and team sales targets. Contribute to the overall growth and profitability of the business. 4. Booking & Coordination Manage all travel bookings, including flights, accommodation, transfers, excursions, and related services. Liaise and negotiate with suppliers, hotels, airlines, transport providers, and tour operators. Ensure all reservations are confirmed, accurate, and properly documented. Monitor bookings and make amendments when required. Ensure seamless travel arrangements from booking through to travel completion. 5. Problem Solving & Customer Support Address and resolve travel-related issues and emergencies efficiently and professionally. Handle customer complaints and concerns with empathy and a solution-focused approach. Assist clients with travel insurance, visa applications, and supporting documentation. Provide ongoing support before, during, and after travel. 6. Market Knowledge & Trend Monitoring Stay informed about travel trends, emerging destinations, industry developments, and market changes. Maintain in-depth knowledge of tourism products and services. Monitor competitor offerings and industry best practices. Provide feedback and recommendations to management regarding market opportunities and product enhancements. 7. Administrative Duties Maintain accurate records of bookings, quotations, client correspondence, and payments. Generate sales reports and track key performance indicators. Ensure compliance with company policies, supplier requirements, and relevant industry regulations. Assist with general administrative and operational functions as required. Minimum Requirements: Grade 12 (Matric). Minimum 2-3 years'' experience in a travel consulting, tour operating, or tourism-related role. Strong knowledge of local and international travel destinations. Experience working with travel reservation systems and booking platforms. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational and time management abilities. Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
