National Procurement Manager

SUMMARY:
Are you a strategic procurement professional with strong experience in the mining industry? We are seeking a National Procurement Manager to lead and optimise procurement operations across our mining sites nationwide. This is a senior role requiring a results-driven leader who can manage complex supply chains, negotiate with key suppliers, and ensure cost-effective sourcing aligned with operational and compliance requirements.

POSITION INFO:
Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement national procurement strategies specific to mining operations.
• Lead the full procurement cycle, from supplier sourcing and negotiation to contract management and performance evaluation.
• Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure consistent supply of quality goods and services.
• Manage high-value tenders, contracts, and framework agreements in line with company standards.
• Ensure all procurement activities meet legal, safety, and compliance standards within the mining sector.
• Collaborate with site managers, operations teams, and finance to forecast demand and manage procurement budgets effectively.
• Introduce cost-saving initiatives and supply chain efficiencies across all mining sites.
• Oversee inventory management, reduce procurement lead times, and prevent supply disruptions.
• Report on procurement metrics, performance trends, and improvement opportunities to executive management.

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field.
• 8+ years’ experience in procurement/supply chain management, with at least 5 years in the mining industry.
• Strong understanding of mining equipment, materials, and service procurement.
• Proven experience in contract negotiation, supplier performance management, and tender processes.
• Familiarity with procurement systems and ERP platforms (SAP, Oracle, or similar).
• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Strong analytical and decision-making capabilities.

• Postgraduate qualification in Procurement or Supply Chain Management.
• Knowledge of B-BBEE and local supplier development frameworks.
• Experience managing procurement for multiple remote or rural mining sites.
