National Project Development Manager

POSITION INFO:

As the National Project Development Manager, you will drive our client’s business-development efforts across South Africa’s biggest projects requiring construction, building and mining equipment. You’ll research and track upcoming opportunities, build relationships with key decision-makers, and ensure our client’s teams are engaged from tender through execution.

Key Responsibilities

• Market Intelligence & Pipeline Management

  • Research and monitor major infrastructure, construction and mining projects nationwide (public and private)

  • Maintain and update a live project database; forecast equipment and personnel needs

• Stakeholder Engagement

  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with C-suite executives, project sponsors, project engineers and procurement teams

  • Represent our client at industry events, site briefings and tender presentations

• Strategic Business Development

  • Develop tailored proposals and presentations showcasing candidate and equipment capabilities

  • Negotiate commercial terms and service-level agreements

• Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Coordinate with our internal recruitment, operations and logistics teams to mobilise resources efficiently and cost-effectively

  • Provide ongoing support, status reporting and liaison throughout project lifecycles

• Travel & Representation

  • Travel extensively across South Africa, including remote site visits and multi-day stays

  • Uphold our client’s brand values and professional standards at all times

Essential Experience & Skills

• Sector Expertise

  • At least 5 years’ experience in project development or business development within construction, infrastructure or mining

  • Proven success in securing and managing national-level projects (e.g. power stations, roads, large-scale mining operations)

• Communication & Negotiation

  • Outstanding verbal and written communication; confident in presentations and executive-level negotiations

• Networking & Relationship Management

  • Demonstrable ability to build and sustain high-value industry contacts, from project engineers through to CEOs

• Travel Capability

  • Comfortable with frequent national travel, including remote and multi-day site stays

• Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business Development or related field (or equivalent experience)

  • Valid South African driver’s licence
