SUMMARY:
A global supplier of paints, coatings, and specialty materials requires the above to be responsible for sales and business development. KAM and PC’s will report directly into this position. The incumbent will need to collaborate with stakeholders and internal departments to create a customer-centric company where customers’ needs are met and over exceeded.

Minimum requirements for the role:

  • Bachelor’s Degree will be advantageous.
  • A minimum of 10 years of sales or trading experience in paints, coatings, and specialty materials essential.
  • Proven experience in leading a successful sales team.
  • Must be able to work independently, take initiative, anticipate the demands and needs of the team and prioritize workload effectively.
  • Effective planning and organizational skills.
  • Strategic thinker with good attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with diverse individuals.
  • Excellent system skills with good exposure to the Microsoft Suite.
  • Good communication skills linked to high customer service standards.
  • Must be able to prioritise and have effective problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to deal with customers at all levels, to build relationships and  be committed to excellent service.
  • Excellent planning and organising skills with a results orientated approach.
  • Ability to be proactive and think “outside the box” in a fast-developing environment.

 The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Managing and giving support to the KAM’s.
  • Analysing competitor and market data metrics to leverage into expanding the customer base.
  • Effectively managing sales budgets to ensure delivery of internal net margin goals and PTPI.
  • Responsible for developing and implementing new processes and procedures for effective and efficient team operations.
  • Collating and completing sales forecasts, sales activity reports and presentations in a timely manner.
  • Developing sales pipeline within projects.
  • Reseller sales growth and catchment development.
  • High-level understanding of building process and application of coatings.
  • Account management, developing and profitability.
  • Customer survey and pricing reports.
  • Providing advice, training and presentations to customers.
  • Market intelligence data and product benchmarking process.
  • Category management.
  • Debtor query management.
  • Financial sales management, margin, budgeting and ASP calculation.
  • Making recommendations via the understanding of efficient coverage, market by market, to include roles, manpower and geographic representation.
  • Identifying desired salesperson behaviors to ensure sales teams are  rewarded for creation of mutual customer value to increase incentive plan understanding across teams, and making recommendations.
  • Driving a new sales training approach to focused subject matter that will position the sales team to meet key objectives.
  • Providing direction and strategy using analytics to generate new business and maintain existing accounts, therefore driving sales and profit in a nominated large market/region.
