Role Summary:
The Nurse plays a vital clinical role within a diagnostic screening centre, ensuring safe, accurate procedures while maintaining high levels of patient comfort and confidentiality. This includes conducting colposcopies, performing diagnostic assessments, managing samples, and working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to deliver seamless, guest-focused care.
Key Responsibilities:

Provide compassionate care during all guest interactions, especially during screenings

Independently perform colposcopies, including pelvic exams and sample collection

Conduct clinical procedures such as ECGs, EEGs, BIA, and blood pressure monitoring
-
Perform venipuncture and manage blood samples with proper labelling and safety
-
Ensure strict patient confidentiality under POPIA regulations
-
Follow infection prevention protocols during all procedures

Respond to clinical emergencies calmly and effectively, escalating when required

Maintain and troubleshoot medical equipment (colposcopes, EEG, BIA devices)

Accurately document all procedures, results, and clinical interactions

Collaborate with clinicians, guest support teams, and diagnostic staff for coordinated care

Qualifications Required:

Diploma in Nursing (General, Community Health, and Midwifery) or Bachelor of Nursing (B.Cur or equivalent)

Active SANC registration

Certificate in Colposcopy (SASOG or equivalent accredited provider) preferred

Advanced Diploma in Midwifery or training in reproductive health advantageous
Experience:

2-3 years of clinical nursing experience, ideally in womens health or diagnostics

Prior exposure to colposcopy or reproductive health settings advantageous

Experience working with sensitive procedures and clinical documentation
Technical Skills:

Proficiency in performing colposcopies, specimen collection, and pelvic exams

Familiarity with colposcope operation, including calibration and maintenance

Strong infection control practices and patient assessment ability

Confidence handling patient symptoms and history for screening preparation
Regulatory & Compliance Requirements:

SANC registration and adherence to the Code of Ethics and Professional Practice Standards

POPIA compliance in all data handling

Compliance with national infection prevention frameworks and facility protocols

CPD participation to maintain clinical registration and skill currency
Working Conditions:

Shift work including weekends and public holidays as per guest schedule demands

Extended periods of standing, interacting with guests, and using specialised equipment

Exposure to medical emergencies requiring calm, clinical responsiveness

Proposed Salary Structure:

Entry-Level (3-5 years of experience, including 1-2 years in colposcopy):
R32,000 - R38,000 per month (R384,000 R456,000 per year)
