OPERATIONAL ACCOUNTANT - RAIL OPERATIONS

SUMMARY:
Cape Town Area – WC: This role provides the financial support to the operational team and will be responsible for all the financial processing and reporting to the Rail operational team.

POSITION INFO:

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or higher with operational environment experience
• Must have at least 5 years’ experience in an accountant position
• Ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external clients
• Advanced excel skills
• Knowledge of BI tools ideal

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

Accounts Receivable:

Agree customer rates and process customer invoices and credit notes

Follow up on queries and collection of all outstanding debt

Collation of applications for new customer contracts

Accounts Payable:

Create purchase orders and receipting of service/goods received

Processing of invoices, account reconciliation and payment thereof within terms

Obtain foreign exchange deals for cross border payments

Collation of application for new supplier contracts

Cash Management

Ensuring sufficient funds available for day to day transactions

Foreign exchange impact assessment to minimise forex losses incurred

Allocation and processing of cashbook entries

Maintenance and reconciliation of the USD bank account

Insurance

Resolution of any insurance matters that may arise

Reporting

Performance of balance sheet reconciliations

Analysis of project performance for Rail Executive and General Manager

Customer Service

Ensure the quality of service provided is maintained through personal interaction with internal and external customers on an ongoing basis and timeous corrective action is taken when needed
