POSITION INFO:

A well-established ophthalmology practice based in Northcliff, Johannesburg, is seeking a skilled and experienced Ophthalmic Assistant to join their team. The ideal candidate should be professional, detail-oriented, and able to work efficiently in a busy clinical environment.

Start Date: May 2026 or sooner
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:00 – 17:00
Salary: R20 000 - R25 000 depending on experience 

Minimum Requirements:

• 1 – 2 years’ experience as an Ophthalmic Assistant
• Ophthalmic Assistant Qualification (Level 1 & 2)
• Experience working in an ophthalmology practice
• Proficient in computer usage
• Experience working with Elixir software
• Experience operating Heidelberg OCT equipment

Key Responsibilities:

• Assisting the ophthalmologist with patient examinations
• Conducting pre-screening tests and diagnostic procedures
• Operating ophthalmic equipment, including OCT
• Managing patient records and clinical data
• Ensuring smooth patient flow within the practice
