SUMMARY:
Our client based in Sandton is looking for an Occupational Health, Safety Manager is to engage in planning, management and monitoring of all aspects related to Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental management and inspection of work to ensure that quality standards are maintained and/or improved.

POSITION INFO:

Qualification

  • Matric (Must)
  • Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Workplace Safety Management
  • Project Management Diploma or Accreditation will be advantageous
  • Minimum of 3 - 5 years’ experience in Occupational Health, Safety and Environment on Management level

Responsibilities

  • Review, develop and manage all client health and safety policies and objectives and be familiar with the applicable laws and regulations
  • To support and coach the staff with the latest health and safety legislation and regulations and increase OHS awareness at all levels
  • To act as a liaison with all government related bodies and regulating agencies
  • Arrange regular meetings with Health and Safety representatives as regulated
  • Ensure policies are adhered to
  • Arrange and ensure OHS training is adequate and up to date
  • Prepare and submit monthly reports on incidents, near misses, injuries, and corrective actions taken to avoid the same incident to occur in future
  • Responsible for developing OHSA. COIDA, reporting
  • Work with appointed 16.1 and 16.2s in all areas
  • Perform SHE internal compliance audits.
  • Review and document non- conformances.
  • Align policies with international standards ISO14000 and ISO18000 where applicable to the organization
  • Prepare, plan and manage visual inspections, report on findings and corrective actions required
  • Manage and assist external audits by customers or authorities as required.
  • To assist in investigations and report on all personal injuries and critical incidents occurring to staff, contractors, visitors, identify root cause and corrective actions where necessary
  • Ensure incident corrective actions are followed up on and completed
  • Review safety obligations of the clients, contractors and ensure they are carried out as per the terms of the agreement
  • Ensure new employees and contractors are inducted on health and safety regulations
  • Ensure safety boards with postings including but not limited to: Health and safety policy, inspection and audit results, project hazard assessment, location of first aid, etc. are maintained
  • Communicate, coach and assist the field staff to ensure all safety expectations are understood and met
  • To assist with emergency preparedness and communicate any emergencies which can occur, e.g., fire, contact the necessary emergency organisations immediately
  • Perform internal audits and ensure compliance with the documented processes
  • Review the process documents and update and upgrade in coordination with the Management Executive
  • Responsible for the contract management and procurement of respective OHS vendors and suppliers
  • Take responsibility for the development, co-ordination, management of processes and implementation of one or more specific areas of the quality assurance system
  • To manage a range of quality assurance procedures and provide advice and guidance to staff concerning quality assurance systems and their implementation
  • Support Technical Engineering team
  • Able to attend to after-hours queries or matters
  • May be required, from time to time, to support OHS teams at other client premises
  • And any other reasonable requirements and instructions which might be requested or given by senior management
