We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Occupational Therapist to join our client's dynamic healthcare team overseeing a high-end retirement village in the City Bowl.
The Occupational Therapist will play a vital role in assessing, planning, and implementing therapeutic interventions that support residents in maintaining or improving their functional abilities. This includes mobility, self-care, cognitive function, engagement in meaningful activities tailored to the needs of frail older adults, and providing caregiver education.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of residents’ physical, and psychosocial abilities.
- Develop individualised treatment plans focused on enhancing independence to improve quality of life.
- Implement therapeutic activities to improve mobility, coordination, and daily living skills.
- Collaborate with nursing staff, physiotherapists, social workers, and family members.
- Recommend and facilitate the use of adaptive equipment and environmental modifications.
- Monitor progress and adjust interventions as needed.
- Provide training and support to caregivers and staff on safe handling and therapeutic techniques.
- Maintain accurate and confidential documentation in line with regulatory standards.
- Participate in multi-disciplinary care planning meetings and contribute to case reviews.
- Promote resident engagement through individual and group therapy sessions and recreational activities.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s or post graduate degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution
- Registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA)
- Minimum 2 – 3 years of experience in geriatric care, rehabilitation, or frail care settings
- Experience with dementia care, stroke rehabilitation, and chronic illness management is highly desirable
- Knowledge of assistive devices, fall prevention strategies, and sensory stimulation techniques
