Operational Financial Manager CA(SA)

POSITION INFO:

We are currently recruiting for a well-known company in the FMCG/Retail industry. My client an international company is looking for Operational Financial manager - qualified CA(SA) to join their team for an exciting new opportunity. They want an extrovert ready to take on new challenges and grow within the company. They want someone with excellent communication skills and a hard-working individual.

Primary objective:

This is a contract position with the potential to go permanent depending on resources work performance.

This role is suitable for a Chartered Accountant who is ready to take the next step in their career and be involved in all financial-operational aspects of an SME operating within the retail space. Exposure to all departments within finance and not just ring-fenced to a specific department.

Reporting:

The candidate will report directly to Head of Finance, indirectly to the CEO & Operational Store Managers.

The candidate will interact with all levels of staff in the business.

The candidate will have between 20-30 people reporting to them.

Candidate must be willing to work of Saturdays from 08h00 – 13h00

CA(SA) with 3-4 years post articles experience.

This is an operational finance role with less reporting and more operational exposure.

The candidate will be based at Head Office: Ormonde, Johannesburg North.

Must be willing and prepared to travel out to stores which are based in the following areas:

• Free State
• Gauteng
• Limpopo
• Mpumalanga
• North West
• Northern Cape

The candidate will be the second in charge to the Head of Finance and will assist the Head of Finance as follows:

• Support on operations within finance  - Treasury, Management Accounts, Shared Services, Shop Accountants, Creditors, Inventory, Payroll
• People and Team management
• Staffing and Team Planning
• Deadline management
• Finance and Operational support on store acquisitions, store closures, bank changes
• Signing off on expenses, releasing of payments on the bank
• Guidance to the team on Accounting principles
• Team leader in terms of enforcing controls/processes
• Daily ad-hoc checks on various controls and processes in place
• Ability to identify breakdown in controls and engage the team/seniors for improvement in process
• Must be tuned to process/system work flows
• Ad-Hoc tasks
• Operational support to the strategic changes within the business

Experience:

Preferred experience in retail.

If not retail then similar industry or experience in the following:

Shared Services, Warehouse, Logistics, Inventory, Cash flow Management, Cashing up process (Speedpoints, Autosafes, Cash collection , bank recons) ,Creditors, Rebates, Discounts, Stock Takes.

Experience with working on Accounting software/Point of sales software and reporting software is advantageous.

Education:

CA(SA) with 3-4 years post articles experience

Fist time board passes

Completed articles a one of the Big 4 firm (Deloitte, PWC, KPMG or E&Y) would be advantages.
