Operations - Group Project Manager

POSITION INFO:

Our Client, a well-established and highly prestigious South African Leader in the technical textiles Manufacturing industry is seeking to URGENTLY appoint a seasoned and dynamic Operations / Group Project Office Manager who can not only lead, but mentor and inspire a team of direct reports, based in their Pinetown, Durban Operations.

MAIN PURPOSE FOR THE ROLE:

• To provide management and leadership to the Group Project Engineers (Continuous Improvement)
• To be accountable for the delivery of all agreed upon projects within the Group of Companies and selected vendors.
• To be accountable for the delivery of Occupational Category Legislators / Senior Officials and Managers
• To be accountable for the delivery of Occupational Level Senior Management

MINIMUM KEY COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS:

• Minimum Grade 12/ Matric
• Minimum BSc in Mechanical, Chemical or Industrial Engineering qualification
• A Commercial / Business qualification (e.g. MBL/MBA) will be a distinct advantage
• A Tertiary Qualification in Project Management is advantageous
• Minimum 10 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment working as a General/Operations Manager
• Experience in a World Class Manufacturing Program (e.g. OPEX, 20 Keys, Lean six Sigma)
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Excellent negotiating and influencing skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide counsel and be a sounding board to leadership as and when required.
• Be available to the business units as a subject matter expert on engineering solutions as and when required.
• Coach and mentor the Group Project Engineers (Continuous Improvement) within the Project Management Office as well as other talented managers within the organization.
• Contribute to bringing about a culture and/or philosophy change in the organization towards World Class Manufacturing (i.e. OPEX, 20 Keys, Lean Six Sigma).
• Facilitate the OEE measurement process and improvement of same within the organization.
• Facilitate the rollout of the OPEX program across all operations of the Group within the next 18 months.
• Lead project scoping and execution of same in all the business units that comprise of the Group and selected external service providers in consultation with operational management.
• Provide leadership support in critical tasks/issues faced by operational leaders e.g. COVID compliance and management.
• Influence operational leadership and the executive team in adopting the project method forward closing the critical performance gaps that have been identified in the business unit.
