Operations Manager - Warehouse & Distribution

POSITION INFO:

Our client is a well known and respected packaging company. We are looking for an experienced Operations Manager with Warehouse and Distribution experience. This position is based in JHB South.

The successful manager will have experience with looking afterÂ

• 2 Big warehouses
• Company fleet
• Supervision of Warehouse Manager, Warehouse Supervisor, Distribution Manager and administrative support staff.

Responsibilities :

• Ensuring effective fleet management
• Ensuring quality and accuracy of delivered product
• Ensuring that the Warehouses are effectively managed
• Stock accuracy, monthly stock takes and reporting variances to the Regional Executive
• Investigating Customer Returns and failed deliveries
• Specifying and designing admin and commercial fleet purchases
• Building strong relationships with all suppliers
• Responsible for compiling annual Capex budget
• Motivating Capex expenditure
• Actively driving down cost and implementing systems and procedures to measure this
• Ensuring that we maintain and enhance labour relationships
• Submit monthly key ratios to measure and benchmark the entire regional logistic operating cost
• Liaising with internal divisional customers and providing the team with cost effective solutions to drive unit cost down
• Maintaining a Service Efficiency of 98%
• Ensuring and maintaining customer relationships through effective service and solutions
• Maintaining inter-branch and inter-departmental relationships
• Establishing the Warehouse and the Distribution budget
• Managing the Distribution and Warehouse budget
• Ensuring the company commercial and administrative vehicle fleet complies to the RTQS and RTMS
• Management of the climate within the department
• Ensuring that the department complies with company standards and FSSC requirements
• Managing the regional forklift fleet

Criteria for application

• Relevant qualification essential
• BCom Supply Chain advantageous
• SAP experience advantageous
• HACCP experience advantageous
• At least 10 year’s experience in the warehouse and distribution/transport industry; 5 of which in a management position
• General knowledge / in medium to heavy commercial vehicles (mechanical and maintenance)
• Experience in the FMCG advantageous
• Lateral thinking and ability to manage array of tasks at the same time
• Ability to operate under pressure
• Ability to communicate with all levels and across departments
• Computer literacy (MS Office) essential; with advanced Excel skills advantageous
• A sound knowledge of financial principles
• Ability to develop budgets and apply analytical techniques
• Ability to interpret data effectively
• Ability to develop and coach employees within the department
• Ability to implement HR procedures
• Knowledge of legislation pertaining to distribution
• Ability to take decisive corrective action where necessary
• An interest in technological developments and improvements in the area of distribution and fleet management
• An enquiring mind and the ability to think out the box
