JOB SUMMARY:
We are seeking an Overhead Lines Specialist Engineer to join our Power Systems Engineering Department (PSED) working under our High Voltage Equipment Unit (HVEU).

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Overview

PSED is responsible for providing and managing highly technical and specialized engineering services to support the safe and reliable operation of the company's electrical power system generation, transmission and distribution networks.
HVEU provides technical support for the company with regards to designs, standards, commissioning, maintenance, operation and investigations with regards to power submarine cables to ensure a safe and reliable power supply.
Your primary role will be to perform the required support and provide high level technical advice with regards to transmission and distribution power lines starting with selection and ending with retirement of assets; with thorough understanding of different designs, manufacturers, installations and issues related to the field. You will act as a subject matter expert, jointly working with all relevant entities in the company, providing services to Power Systems customers to ensure safe and reliable Power Supply in the most cost-effective manner.

Key Responsibilities
As the successful candidate will be required to perform the following:

Provide technical advice regarding equipment selection, testing, installation, maintenance, repair and failure investigation.
Liaise as subject matter expert with OEM’s.
Review and prepare technical scope documents for repair / refurbishment.
Review and prepare technical evaluations scope documents for new projects/submittals.
Review and recommend best practice maintenance strategies as ongoing Operation Excellence (OE) driver.
Review company standards and be familiar with international standards.
Lead power system interruption investigations, review power system events, propose engineering solutions and recommendations.
Conduct fault investigations following recognized Root Cause Analysis (RCA) practices and issue associated reports.

Minimum Requirements

You must hold a Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering. A Masters degree is preferred.
You will have a minimum of 8 years of transmission and distribution power line installation, operations and maintenance experience demonstrated by suitable references primarily related to Power lines design.
You must have a Professional Engineer certification such as chartership with a recognized Engineering Institution.
You must be able to demonstrate deep, technical level insight in transmission and distribution power line construction and design practices covering distribution and transmission applications.
You must also be able to demonstrate powerlines design competency in a leading capacity demonstrating depth of compliance with manufacturing standards such as IEC and participate as member in the relevant CIGRE Working Group.
