POD Clerk - Logistics (Outbound)

SUMMARY:
A well-established logistics and freight forwarding organisation is seeking a detail-oriented Outbound Controller / POD Clerk to join its outbound logistics team. This role is ideal for an individual with experience in outbound distribution, proof of delivery (POD) management and transport coordination within a fast-paced logistics environment.

Purpose of the Role

POSITION INFO:
Key Responsibilities Manage the outbound delivery process from planning through to final settlement. Coordinate and monitor Proof of Delivery (POD) processes, including POD verification, reconciliation and KPI reporting. Monitor and investigate failed deliveries, delivery delays, shortages, overages and outstanding shipments. Manage Stock-in-Transit (SIT) reports, ageing stock, pending deliveries and delivery status updates. Liaise daily with transport service providers, warehouses and customers to ensure on-time deliveries and proactive communication. Monitor Goods Issue (GI) processes and system interfaces to ensure accurate and timely processing. Investigate logistics system exceptions, including material, customer and postal code errors. Assist with inventory management, quarterly stock counts and irregularity reporting. Maintain logistics records, performance reports and outbound cost reporting. Ensure logistics KPIs, customer service levels and operational targets are achieved. Support continuous improvement initiatives within the outbound logistics operation. Minimum Requirements Matric (Grade 12). Minimum 1-3 years' experience in an outbound logistics, POD administration or freight forwarding environment. Working knowledge of outbound distribution and transport operations. Experience working with logistics or warehouse management systems. Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. Understanding of local distribution, warehousing and inventory management principles. Key Competencies Strong attention to detail and high levels of accuracy.
