SUMMARY:

Job Background
The PRM team operates across all segments of the restructuring, workout and insolvency spectrum. The team provides advice on financial restructuring, enforcement and insolvency matters across the client portfolio. Whilst based in Cape Town, the team often works across Africa and the role may include an element of African-wide and international travel.
 
Require a recently admitted attorney with 2+ years PQE to work as part of a team of problem solvers, helping to solve complex business issues, implement turnarounds, workouts and recovery strategies. Skills and responsibilities for this role include but are not limited to:
-        Reporting and updating on a portfolio of clients in various forms and stages of financial distress across various sectors in various jurisdictions.
-        Establish the root causes of issues and tackle them, rather than just the symptoms.
-        Move easily between big picture thinking and managing relevant detail.
-        Anticipate stakeholder needs, and develop and discuss potential solutions
-        Develop specialised expertise in one or more areas.
-        Advise stakeholders on relevant technical issues, specifically in relation to security enforcement and business restructuring matters.
-        Build trust with teams and stakeholders through open and honest conversation.

POSITION INFO:

About the role

A typical assignment may include some or all of the following:

-        Independent review of current legal and security position, key drivers of value and key risks of businesses across a range of sectors and geographies.

-        Review of businesses for long term viability, valuation and assessment of legal options

-        Review and understanding of the priority of various classes of creditor.

-        Work with multiple senior stakeholders to negotiate, agree and implement solutions.

-        Work alongside other stakeholders to implement cost saving and working capital improvement plans.

-        Monitoring of a portfolio of clients, including preparation of presentations and/or reports to key stakeholders (e.g., management, investors, etc).

 

Minimum requirements to be met:

-        LLB, admitted attorney

-        B. Comm and/or LLM an added advantage

-        A minimum of 2 years’ PQE, preferably in a commercial law/finance environment
