SUMMARY:
The School of Computer Science is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Part-Time Lecturer to join our team and contribute to the teaching of Computer Networks. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated academic or industry professional with a passion for education and a strong background in networking technologies. The ideal candidate will bring real-world experience and academic insight to inspire and engage students in both theoretical and practical aspects of the subject.

Technical Competencies Required:
- Deep understanding of network models (OSI & TCP/IP), topologies, and communication protocols (e.g., TCP, UDP, HTTP, FTP, DNS).
- Proficiency in configuring and troubleshooting network hardware (routers, switches, firewalls, access points).
- Familiarity with command-line network troubleshooting tools like ping, tracert, ipconfig, nslookup, and netstat.
- Strong knowledge of network security principles, including firewalls, authentication, encryption, and risk assessment.
- Experience with network simulation tools such as Cisco Packet Tracer, Hyper-V, and Nmap.
- Knowledge of network virtualization, cloud computing models (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS), and software-defined networking (SDN).
Minimum Education Requirements:
- Honours degree in an ICT related field including a networking focus.
- Alternatively a NQF8 qualification with strong exposure to networking technologies.
Minimum Work Experience Requirements:
- Lecturing experience in network design/network infrastructure/network architecture will be advantageous.
- Work experience as a Systems Engineer/Network Manager or Infrastructure Manager will be advantageous.
Working Conditions:
- Please note that this is a Part-time role with lectures taking place between 08:00 and 17:00.
- Preference will be given to South African Citizens and Permanent Residents of South Africa in possession of proof of permanent resident status.
