Payroll Accountant

SUMMARY:
Are you a numbers-driven professional with a passion for payroll? We’ve recently partnered with a leading JSE-listed manufacturing company based in the Northern Suburbs of Cape Town to find a Payroll Accountant who’s ready to take full ownership of the payroll function. As the Payroll Accountant, you’ll be responsible for managing the end-to-end payroll process for a large staff complement. This includes everything from processing and reconciling monthly payroll, handling statutory submissions, and ensuring full compliance with relevant legislation – all while working in a high-paced, high-performance environment.

POSITION INFO:

Process and manage end-to-end payroll for all employees, including permanent, contract, and hourly-paid staff
Ensure payroll is fully compliant with South African tax laws
Perform monthly reconciliations of payroll accounts and liaise with finance to ensure accurate GL postings
Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly, and annual payroll reports for internal and statutory requirements
Maintain and update employee records in the payroll system
Ensure data integrity
Provide required payroll documentation and reports for internal and external audits
Coordinate employee benefits such as medical aid, provident fund contributions
Ensure accurate deductions
Manage and process all third-payments and ensure timeous submission
Serve as the point of contact for payroll-related queries and provide professional support to HR and employees
Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes and ensure alignment with best practices and internal controls

Skills & Experience:
Meticulous attention to detail and a solid understanding of payroll legislation
3-5 Years of experience in a similar payroll-focused role
Exposure to Payroll Systems (Sage, VIP, or similar)

Qualification:
Completed BCom degree in Finance or Accounting
Grade 12 (Matric)
