SUMMARY:
Payroll Manager with strong Account Tax experience able to develop and manage a tax plan and producing of employee annual tax statements

POSITION INFO:

Payroll Manager

Description of Position This position Manages payroll; administers benefits (funds, medical, vehicle, etc.); administers disability, death and funeral. Develops and manages staff.

Qualification, Experience and Technical Requirements

  • Tertiary Education: Finance Degree (NQF7) / HR Management
  • 6 – 8 Years HR Management Experience of which 3 – 4 Years must be be in Finance
  • Knowledge of Payroll and Payroll Experience (SAGE would be an advantage)
  • Knowledge of the Basic Conditions of Employment Act
  • Knowledge of PAYE tax calculations
  • Knowledge of use of SARS easy file
  • Knowledge of UIF and other benefits requirements and regulations
  • Knowledge of industry relate financial and legal regulations
  • Knowledge of FEM, COID and IOD processes and payments
  • Knowledge of pension and provident fund calculations and tax implications
  • Broader financial knowledge (i.e. not just payroll)
  • Understanding of IRP5 parameter blocks

Special Knowledge / Skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook (Including, creating spreadsheets, utilising data bases and doing word processing, pivot tables etc.)
  • Proficient in Internet Searching and Analysis
  • Excellent command of English language (including spelling, grammar and punctuation), Excellent command of Afrikaans language (including spelling, grammar and punctuation) will be an advantage Ability to deal responsibly with confidential information
  • Planning, organizing, prioritizing and Time management skills are important
  • Proficient in analysing numerical, verbal and other sources of information to provide solutions and reports

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Complying with payroll principles with regards to:
  • Legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation.
  • Establishing time policies and procedures
  • Developing, managing and reporting of leave, overtime, clock hours
  • Develop and manage a tax plan and producing of employee annual tax statements
  • Filing of regulatory payroll documentation and tax forms

Benefits (Funds, Medical, Vehicle, etc.)

  • Reconcile monthly payment to fund for salary and wages, reconciling of fuel allowance and medical aid monthly.
  • Resolve queries regarding benefits, including medical aid changes
  • Monthly reporting to management

Disability, death and funeral

Obtain disability related information, liaise with policy organisation, reconcile disability statements monthly and make payments to employees

Obtain death related information and submit, follow up to completion

Staff Development and Management

  • Define employee performance objectives o Review, appraise and manage employees performance, skill and competency development
  • Reward and motivate department employees
  • Manage employee grievances
