JOB SUMMARY:
An international company within the Manufacturing industry is searching for a Planning and Inventory Control Manager (PICM) to oversees the planning, prioritising and coordination of production activities for Richards Bay and Merebank mills, leads S&OP/order board meetings and works to balance supply and demand and reach a consensus forecast with the sales and production departments. The PICM is also responsible for inventory control, ageing/obsolescence and DSO/DIO performance.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Minimum Requirement

Bachelor's degree required; Supply Chain, Operations Management, Logistics or Engineering
CPIM certification or equivalent is preferred
Minimum five years’ experience as a Production Planning or S&OP Manager
Experience leading the S&OP process in a manufacturing environment
Deep understanding of global best practices in Production Planning and Inventory Control is essential
Experience owning the inventory management strategy and delivering strong results in DSO/DIO/CCC
Business Process Improvement capability demonstrated by successful design/redesign of a core business process delivering tangible benefits to the business
Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills demonstrated by successful cross-functional collaboration
Demonstrated commitment to working with, leading and developing people
Collaborative team-player with a “roll-up your sleeves” approach

Duties and Responsibilities

Oversees day-to-day production planning and inventory control activities.
Leads the development and implementation of the S&OP process.
Responsible for tracking and improving Production Planning and Inventory Control KPIs.
Drives continuous improvement of Planning and Inventory Control systems, processes and operations.
Builds people capability through effective employee relations, hiring, training, and direction setting.
Assumes Project Management responsibilities for key supply chain projects and initiatives.
Owns Inventory Management Strategy and Targets.
Owns the development, updates and deployment of training materials, SOPs, Procedures and Work Instructions; and ensures their team’s compliance to the same.
