Plant Buyer

Job purpose

Procurement professional ensuring delivery of all Procurement targets; site specific procurement and local implementation of

Group-led and SBU-led spend categories (including capital and operational expenditure) and manages supplier performance.

Undertakes activities to ensure the efficient and effective strategic procurement of defined portfolio, which may include

responsibility for a category where this is specific to the site.

Key responsibilities

• Act in accordance with Company values and bring to life the One Procurement Community (OPC) to enable Company’s Procurement

Excellence strategy.

• Work in accordance with the Group Procurement Operating Model, Group Policies and Standards, the Plant procurement

activities from category strategy development to contract, implementation, and supplier management.

• Enable effective business partnership for Plant for the development and improvement of defined categories in line with business requirements, optimising security of supply, commercial agility, drives responsibly sourced sustainable value, which contributes to business profitability and cash flow.

• Works to identify, develop and implement improved supply-side initiatives to deliver sustainable value, appropriate quality and service, and a secure, safe, cost effective and ethical supply base.

• Conducts research on potential suppliers and vendors, promotions, and other industry trends as a source of accurate and up-to-date information to compliment Group insights for procurement activities.

• Negotiates and develops formal supply agreements for defined Plant categories of spend. Ensures compliance.

• Provides monthly/quarterly price updates. Discusses strategies, priorities and issues with business management, and advises budget holders and experts in choosing suppliers and products.

• Manages supplier relationships and builds a comprehensive understanding of extended supply chains (ideally back to

source and applicable waste streams), and general industry market intelligence.

• Is focused on delivering best practice results and a competitive advantage to the Company.

• Contributing to and/or managing sourcing cycle for defined portfolio. Employs best-in-class Procurement approaches.

Supporting and implementing all procurement strategic projects held globally.

• Support attainment of Plant stakeholder commitment and deliver cost/risk/innovation/value-based projects for the

SBU and related Plants, developing excellent collaboration with Group Procurement.

• Maintain data integrity on SAP

• Have SAP experience (PTP process, requisitions, PO’s, scheduling)

• Flexibility & good time management (changing environment & priorities)

• BBBEE knowledge or have worked with it

• Experience in negotiating, drafting, contract management, formulating, and administrating purchase orders in a

manufacturing environment (desirable)

Are you the ideal candidate?

• Diploma/University Degree required (Procurement/Supply Chain/Engineering or Law degree or diploma highly

desirable).

• 4 years of experience as a buyer or purchasing, in a high-volume manufacturing environment, preferably automotive (or chemical process industry).

• Experience in negotiating, drafting, formulating, and administrating purchase orders in a manufacturing

environment (desirable)

• Above average computer literacy (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)

• An up to date understanding of supply market, best practices and policies in Procurement
