Plant Engineer – GCC - FMCG

SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Maintenance and Project Manager you will be required to manage engineering projects and support plant maintenance and optimisation by initiating equipment improvements and providing engineering support to a multi-disciplined maintenance team.

POSITION INFO:

Minimum Requirements:

• BEng (Mechanical or Electrical)
• Completed Government Certificate of Competency essential
• 8 – 10 years’ FMCG maintenance engineering experience covering all engineering disciplines – Electrical/Mechanical/Instrumentation/Civil
• Knowledge of OHS Act, Hazardous Chemicals, National Environmental Legislation
• Expert knowledge of all major plant equipment

Key Result Areas:

• Manage and improve plant safety by ensuring compliance to legislation
• Assessment of risk involved in conducting various jobs and activities.
• In particular, planning and communicating jobs which entail work on high-risk areas (high-pressure super-heated steam, sulphuric acid, anhydrous ammonia, chlorine gas, phosphoric acid, nitric acid)
• For Projects (Capital or Maintenance) assigned to incumbent:
  • Define project objective, design, equipment selection, materials of construction
  • Ensure accurate drawings and documentation with all projects and modifications
• Conduct HAZOP study & participate in HACCP study
• Interfacing of projects/modifications with production
• Manage change and construction issues and deviations
• Responsible person for construction and design
• Completing projects on time and ensuring cost control while delivering agreed outputs
• Lead project commissioning
• Ensure all project documentation complete
• Ensure Plant personnel trained to operate new process/equipment and that SOP''s are provided
• Identify recurring troublesome equipment/problems and propose and implement alterations/modifications where agreed.
• Assist maintenance to resolve breakdowns timeously
