SUMMARY:
As a Plant Manager of a flotation plant, you will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient and safe operation of the
flotation plant while meeting production targets and complying with regulatory requirements.
POSITION INFO:
Key responsibilities:
- Managing the day-to-day operations of the flotation plant, ensuring production targets are met efficiently and safely
- Supervising plant personnel, including operators, technicians, and maintenance staff, to ensure proper staffing levels and training
- Implementing and enforcing safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for all employees
- Optimizing plant performance by monitoring key metrics such as recovery rates, throughput, and chemical usage, and making adjustments as necessary
- Coordinating with maintenance teams to schedule and prioritize equipment repairs and upgrades to minimize downtime
- Managing inventory levels of consumables and spare parts to ensure uninterrupted operation of the plant.
- Liaising with other departments, such as geology, engineering, and environmental, to coordinate activities and address any issues that may arise
- Ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and company policies related to waste disposal, water usage, and emissions
- Analyzing data and preparing reports on plant performance, budgeting, and forecasting to support decision making and strategic planning
- Continuously seeking opportunities for process improvement and cost optimization to maximize profitability
Minimum requirements:- Bachelor's degree in metallurgical engineering, chemical engineering, mining engineering, or a related field
- 10 years of experience in mineral processing, particularly in flotation operations of which 5years should have
- been as a manager/supervisor
- Strong leadership and management skills, including the ability to effectively supervise and motivate a team
- of plant personnel
- In-depth knowledge of flotation processes and equipment, including flotation cells, reagents, and
- instrumentation
- Proficiency in implementing and enforcing safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working
- environment
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues as they arise
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements and industry standards related to mineral processing and environmental compliance
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with employees, suppliers, and other stakeholders
- Experience in budgeting, cost control, and resource management to optimize plant performance and profitability
- Willingness to work in a demanding environment with irregular hours and occasional travel as needed
