As their first Platform Engineer, you’ll take ownership of a robust, multi-cloud environment and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of their infrastructure, reliability, and security operations.
About the Role
This is a hands-on opportunity to build and optimise platform reliability from the ground up. You’ll work closely with a small, high-performing engineering team, owning everything from uptime and scalability to disaster recovery and DevOps automation. This is the perfect role for someone ready to take charge, drive improvements, and grow into a leadership position as the platform scales.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure high availability, performance, and monitoring across all production applications
- Manage and optimise Heroku pipelines, CI/CD flows, and production infrastructure
- Oversee cloud operations across AWS, DigitalOcean, and Heroku environments
- Run Celery workers and queues, enforce task health, and track service-level objectives
- Lead disaster recovery planning, penetration testing, and post-mortem processes
- Standardise and maintain infrastructure using Terraform, scripting, and automation
- Own security practices: encryption, IAM policies, MFA/SSO, and access reviews
- Build internal tools and dashboards to streamline developer workflows
- Centralise logging and observability with tools like Sentry, Papertrail, Prometheus, and
- APM
- Evaluate and manage third-party vendors and SaaS integrations
What You’ll Bring
- 3+ years of experience managing cloud infrastructure (Heroku, AWS, DigitalOcean, etc.)
- Strong CI/CD knowledge (GitHub Actions, Heroku CI) and solid Git fundamentals
- Experience with monitoring, logging, and incident response frameworks
- Working knowledge of IAM, MFA/SSO, encryption protocols, and secure configuration
- Proven ability to document, collaborate, and work effectively within small engineering

Nice to Have
- Proficiency in Python and familiarity with Django or Flask
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform and Docker
- Understanding of Celery, Redis, or asynchronous workloads
- Exposure to compliance frameworks such as SOC 2 or GDPR
- Familiarity with observability platforms (Prometheus, Grafana, New Relic)
- Certifications like AWS Certified DevOps Engineer or CKS
