Polymer Technologist/ Flexible Packaging Specialist

SUMMARY:
A well-established Market leader specialising within the meat and food processing manufacturing and equipment industries requires the above to Manage and Oversee all Packaging materials, performing critical quality checks in accordance with quality procedures and high levels of standard excellence prescribed by the company.

POSITION INFO:

Minimum requirements for the role:

• Tertiary qualification in Packaging Technology and or Food or Polymer Technology or related qualification is essential.
• Previous experience having worked as a Packaging Technologist or related role within a Flexible Plastic Film / Extruding Manufacturing Company.
• Previous Formulation experience having worked within the Flexible Films Industry is essential.
• Previous experience having been exposed to Polymer Development is preferred.
• Previous experience having been involved in trouble shooting on the Plant / Factory working with different Extruders is essential.
• Previous experience having worked within a Food and or Meat Processing Manufacturing environment is essential.
• Previous experience having supported and assisted the Packaging Development Manager is essential.
• Previous experience having managed Technicians and or staff within a Manufacturing environment is preferred.
• Previous experience having been involved with formulations and recipe’s is preferred.
• Must be computer literate.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Manage and oversee all packaging area Staff.
• Drive Company KPI’s to align with the organization’s goals and targets as well as investigating and assisting with equipment breakdowns on packaging equipment.
• Liaise with Packaging Material Suppliers related to non-compliance against specifications, delivery, and introduce new designs as well as re-engineer existing packaging materials when required to do so.
• Manage and oversee the end-to-end process of packaging material as well as quality control, testing new packaging, from delivery to dispatch.
• Run laboratory and factory trials, as well as accelerate shelf-life tests within the organization and at the customer.
• Trouble shoot and problem solve packaging and process issues at the factory and at the customer.
• Handle quality control of final product and verify the authenticity of label information against packed content.
• Formulate product specifications for current and prospective customers.
