Post Investment Analyst

Location: East London (Travel along N2 corridor East London to Mthatha)

Purpose of the Role
The Post Investment Analyst plays a key role in monitoring, analysing, and enhancing the performance of invested portfolio companies. The role combines financial analysis, auditing, and business development to ensure that investments deliver sustained value and that financial and operational risks are well managed.
This position is ideal for a driven and analytical graduate with a strong foundation in finance, accounting, or enterprise development who wants to build a career at the intersection of audit, investment, and strategic business growth in the retail sector.
Key Responsibilities
Post-Investment Monitoring & Analysis
- Conduct regular financial performance reviews of portfolio companies to track profitability, liquidity, and efficiency ratios.
- Assess adherence to investment covenants, key performance indicators (KPIs), and risk thresholds.
- Identify variances between actual and forecasted performance and provide insights or corrective recommendations.
- Support post-investment due diligence and prepare reports summarizing portfolio health and return on investment.
Audit & Compliance Oversight
- Assist in conducting financial and operational audits for invested businesses.
- Evaluate internal control systems to ensure compliance with governance and regulatory standards.
- Contribute to audit findings and recommend process improvements to strengthen risk management.
Business Development & Value Creation
- Collaborate with portfolio management teams to identify growth opportunities, cost optimization, and efficiency initiatives.
- Support strategic projects aimed at scaling or improving the performance of portfolio businesses.
- Participate in financial modeling and scenario planning to assess potential reinvestment or exit strategies.
Reporting & Communication
- Prepare dashboards and management reports summarizing key post-investment insights.
- Communicate findings and recommendations clearly to senior management and stakeholders.
- Contribute to investor updates and board pack preparations when required.
Candidate Profile
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Enterprise Development.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Honours degree, Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting or Finance, or any Commercial related degree
Experience:
- Prior exposure to audit, investment analysis, corporate finance, or enterprise development is a strong advantage.
- Experience with financial modeling, due diligence, or valuation techniques will be beneficial.
Technical Skills:
- Strong proficiency in Excel and financial modelling.
- Working knowledge of financial statements, investment metrics, and audit procedures.
- Familiarity with accounting or ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Sage, or Xero).
- Analytical capability to interpret complex data and translate it into actionable insights.
