Our client is a leading and innovative grower of berries, with farms in South Africa and globally. They are looking for passionate and motivated BSc Graduate Growers for the company’s Graduate Development Program. This is an amazing opportunity for someone to learn and launch into their professional career.
During a two-year program the Graduate will develop into a professional Grower.
They will be assisted by a coach/ mentor, getting the opportunity to sample 2 - 4 rotations, offering a broad range of challenging responsibilities, international where appropriate.
Supplementing practical training, they will join formal courses specific to growth as well as leadership skills.
Progress will be regularly checked and at the end of each year the graduate will demonstrate their new skills and knowledge during assessments as well as a final assignment before completing the program.
Ideal candidates will have a B.Sc. or B. Tech in Agronomy or Horticulture with a minimum of 1-3 years of practical experience preferably in soft fruit or table grapes.
Requirements:
- Relevant qualifications (B.Sc. or B. Tech in Agronomy or Horticulture)
- Practical experience in soft fruit or table grapes.
- Less than 3 years’ experience in growing crops.
- Technical knowledge of crops, products, and farming practices.
- Computer literacy with good working knowledge of Microsoft packages.
- In possession of a Driver's license and passport.
Characteristics:
- Detailed and analytical with a high sense of urgency and attention to detail as this is a fast-paced environment.
- Good in working with people, will initially manage a small team, good communication skills and conflict resolution skills.
- Practical and willing to get hands dirty. (This is not lab/science research focused position).
- Someone with a passion for plants and planting and a passion for the berry industry, and to be out in nature and on the go.
- Active, high energy and assertive with a high level of tenacity.

Salary offered: R20k -R22k p/m for year 1 of the program. (In year 2 there will be a salary increase).
