SUMMARY:
Provide technical geology support and expertise in a multi-disciplinary team to the Copper operations in Africa.
POSITION INFO:
Principal Geologist Africa
Based Johannesburg and to travel into Africa as and when required
Work Experience:
• 10+ years of experience in exploration geology across base and precious metals
• Extensive knowledge of mine geology, grade control and reconciliation techniques in underground and open cut operations
• Advanced mining software skills, preferably with a range of planning software including Deswik, Surpac, or Vulcan
• Prior experience in managing and leading diverse technical teams, preferably in Africa would be highly regarded
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Geology, postgraduate studies would be an advantage
• The ability to travel extensively into Africa

GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY:
• Development of grade control technical standards including mine-to-mill reconciliation for a range of open cut and underground operations to ensure seamless integration with short-medium and long-term plans.
• Provide mine geology services to operations and projects.
• Support collaboration between mine geology and operational teams across sites, ensuring the sharing of successful innovation and practice initiatives.
• Support internal technical and toll gate reviews for operations and projects.
• Support technical evaluations and due diligence reviews of investment opportunities.
• Provide mentoring and support to mine geologists across African Copper operations
• Assist with investigation and implementation of new mining and exploration related technology across our operations.
• Effectively communicate to all levels of stakeholders.
