Printing Estimator

SUMMARY:

Our client, a large commercial printing business that specializes in the mass production of books, diaries, and magazines, is seeking to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced Printing Estimator to join their Company.

POSITION INFO:

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Efficiently and accurately calculate work estimates in line with the set costing and set standards as

per the client or customers’ requests

• Ensure that work estimates are provided to the customer within the required turn-around time
• Develop/maintain cost effective measures in terms of the calculations of work required
• Ensure that all quotes exceeding R----- are signed off by the Commercial Manager
• Develop/determine internal spoilage estimates
• Supply and send order confirmations when required
• Draft and send quote letters to the requesting customer
• Inform and keep the sales representative up-to-date with the status of the work estimates

requested and inform the sales representative of any delays

• Liaise with procurement in terms of material (paper) availability
• Liaise with planning regarding available capacity and required delivery dates
• Advise internal and external clients on the most efficient and cost effective was of producing the

required work

• Be kind and courteous when dealing with clients and escalate major client concerns to the

Commercial Manager

• Ensure compliance with all relevant standard operating procedures (SOPs)
• Investigate any deviations from quality standards and implement actions with the Commercial

Manager to remedy these deviations.

• Attend various meeting as and when required
• Attend and complete all training interventions identified for the position

REQUIREMENTS:

• Grade 12 (Matric) certificate with Mathematics as a subject (passed)
• Relevant NQF5 tertiary or college qualification is advantageous (in estimating or relevant)
• A minimum of 1-3 years relevant estimating work experience is required
• Previous experience working on an estimating program (Technique MIS experience advantageous)
