SUMMARY:

POSITION INFO:
Minimum Job Requirements:

B.Sc/B.Tech in Chemical Engineering essential.
Registration as Professional Engineer/Technologist, a strong advantage.
Min 5 to 7 years’ experience in a Process Mill environment.
Experience in a supervisory position an advantage.

Key Performance Areas:
Reporting to the Quality Assurance and Technology Manager:

Assist with process troubleshooting as required and implement immediate solutions.
Perform equipment and process design and sizing.
Create P&IDs, process descriptions and functional descriptions.
Participate in root cause or other analyses and propose appropriate corrective measures.
Plan, co-ordinate and report on process trials.
Manage projects from inception to implementation.
Perform technical investigations to improve quality, energy efficiency and optimise processes.
Analyse processes using statistical methods and develop simulation models.
Research and implement own ideas for Process Optimisation and cost savings.
Assist with technical solutions to Environmental issues.
Conduct HAZOPs/Risk Assessments as required to highlight risks associated with certain operations.
Research and implement best practice for process equipment and tasks.
Maintain SHEQ ISO system requirements.
Interrogate and translate daily lab results for compliance and opportunities for optimisation.
Assist in Mill and Plant shuts as required.
Provide technical support to Production processes.
Stand-in for Line Manager as required.

Job Competencies/Attributes/Skills:

Highly motivated with a passion for technical work and able to work with minimum supervision.
Team player able to engage positively with Production, Engineering and other support disciplines.
Excellent report writing skills and effective communication of ideas and solutions.
Computer literacy including SAP, Excel, MS Projects (basic).
Keen analytical abilities.
Customer satisfaction driven and service/support orientated.
