SUMMARY:
This mid to senior level position requires a qualified person with 3 years’ experience in leading, developing, implementing, and maintaining quality/process in an automotive manufacturing environment. A tertiary technical qualification is required. IATF 16949, core tools training certificates (APQP/PPAP) is essential.

  • 3 years’ experience in leading, developing, implementing and maintaining quality/process in an automotive manufacturing environment.
  • Must be results driven, delivery focused with excellent attention to detail
  • Knowledge of relevant automotive industry customer specifics e.g. processes, procedures, policies, guidelines and legislation
  • Must have an understanding of the stainless / mild steel business as well as manufacturing processes and control.
  • Knowledge of IATF16949 (Old version IATF(new version) will be a bonus.
  • Understanding of the Stainless / mild steel manufacturing processes
  • Knowledge of Towbar compulsory specifications and testing requirements
  • Knowledge of torque tools / break away testing
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office / Outlook to prepare reports and report results.
  • Knowledge of Automotive Core tools such as PPAP / APQP / Gauge R&R, SPC
  • Knowledge of FMEA / Control Plans and cascading of characteristics
  • Knowledge of metrology, part measurements and lean principles is essential

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Maintain a high level of quality/process compliance standard in the manufacturing facility so that customer and regulatory requirements are met.
  • Maintain a strong working relationship with quality personnel at the customer level.
  • Drive continuous improvement in process control and productivity in manufacturing processes.
  • Liaise with Production, Engineering and Supply Chain on all matters related to plant and product quality.

Integrated Management Systems:
 
  • Assist the Quality Manager, Production Manager and the APQP/Project Manager with planning for implementation of effective processes.
  • Assist with developing, reviewing, and implementing Control Plans, Work Instruction, Standard Operating Procedures, Inspection Standards, Forms and guidelines compliant to OEM and relevant ISO/TS 16949, ISO 14001 and other requirements.
  • Retaining records/documents on the intranet and designated storage areas.
  • Implementing document and records control process requirements on the shop floor.
  • Assist the Quality Manager, Production Manager and the APQP/Project Manager with preparation for external certification audits and customer audits to demonstrate compliance to requirements.
  • Providing training to staff on process/product related topics if and when required.
  • Assist the Quality Manager, Production Manager, and the APQP/Project Manager to develop effective processes monitoring/reporting systems to measure effectiveness and efficiency of the process/product performance
  • Capture results from activities/studies/tasks and validating data integrity.
  • Analysis performance using suitable statistical and analytical tools and techniques.
  • Assist with Audits if and when required.
  • Assist to maintain process / project boards and reporting of such data
  • Developing and implementing process related documents such as Control Plans, FMEA, SOP, Inspection Standards, Flow charts, etc.
  • Has the authority to stop the process if noncompliance detected that warrants immediate corrective action (scope/nature of issue serious).
  • Any PPAP/APQP tasks as directed by the Quality / Project Manager.
  • Ensuring Products and Supplier parts are approved prior to volume production as per OEM process requirements (PPAP) and Approval Packages (Documents) retained.
  • Auditing if and when required to validate compliance.
  • Developing and implementing a product validation process (product audits and periodic layout inspections)
  • Developing and facilitating implementation of statistical process controls as per customer specific requirements.
  • Checking that process monitoring is conducted on process parameters as per Control
  • Conduct MSA (measurement systems analysis) studies if and when required.
  • Ensuring corrective/preventive action is taken as per documented processes/procedures (fast response problem solving/8D).
  • Ensure compliance to customer specific requirements (OEMs)
  • Implementation of any project related activities such as (but not limited to) production trials, capability studies, product validations, capacity studies, etc.
  • New part/Engineering Change trial runs and validations
  • Identifying improvement opportunities.
  • Implementing best practice and lessons learned if and when required.
  • Participating actively in Lean & continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensuring adherence to Human Resources and related policies and procedure.
  • Collaboration/working together with Product Development/Operations and provide feedback on quality/project activities to ensure improvement objectives are met.
  • Monitoring and ensuring adherence to Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental requirements.
  • Train Staff on customer specifics/product/process requirements (new/revised)
