JOB DESCRIPTION:

The purpose of this position is to manage the Smelter Secondary processes, that being all operations and projects within the Fluidised Bed Incinerator and Copper Recovery plant.

Our client is seeking an experienced process leader who will drive the coordination and execution of all production, maintenance, stocktake, project and audit plans to meet the company and business unit KPIs. The Smelter Secondary Processes Leader will report directly to the Operations Manager: Smelter.

Key Accountabilities include:

Production planning: creation of process to maximise revenue generation and ensuring all environmental considerations are considered (effluent management, air emission control, waste management).
Maintenance: co-ordination & scheduling of planned maintenance and fault-finding on machinery/equipment
Process improvements: Identify, develop and apply using MOC
Ensuring full SHEQ compliance.
Cost saving initiatives
Metals accounting and waste reduction
Formulation of risk assessments and procedures for new projects
People Management: Creating an environment of coaching/ mentoring. Technological ways to increasing skills within the smelter teams

Education and Experience:

Degree or BTech in Engineering (either chemical Engineeringl, mechanical eng or metallurgical eng)
**Additional qualifications/ courses/ certificates (Advantageous/ Beneficial)
8 years’ experience as a supervisor or foreman in an operational environment.
Production knowledge - Fully understands the production processes.
Equipment knowledge - Fault detection abilities.
SHEQ and radiation knowledge - Able to adhere to specified standards.
Thorough mechanical knowledge - Able to diagnose faults.
Process knowledge - Thorough understanding of processes.
Metallurgical processes metal accounting systems
Strong communication skills and negotiation ability

This role will suit a highly driven leader with a efficient mindset and cost focus who can be relied on to lead the Secondary Processes and implement the most efficient and cost-effective ways to safely extract high quality metals.
