Process Technologist (Mentorship / Development Programme)

SUMMARY:
Multi-National concern has an awesome opportunity for Process Technologist (EE) for a 2 year Mentorship / Development programme. Provide technical support to the Prod. and Engineering Departments on existing chemical processes and equipment. Assist R&D with the implementation of new chemical processes and optimization of existing processes. Manage projects to install new processing equipment.

POSITION INFO:

Successful incumbent will have a completed B.Sc (Chemical Engineering) degree (not negotiable), with a minimum of 2 years related experience.  Fantastic mentoring / development opportunity within a well-known energy / chemical concern. Main Responsibilities include: optimise processes based on plant and literature studies; carry out process audits and mass balances and recommend improvements; assist in investigations of process problems; optimise equipment performance through benchmarking, performance evaluations and OEM recommendations; assist with waste reduction and waste management systems; develop tools for process monitoring and optimastion (Excel and PI ProcessBook); Conduct plant trials on new equipment and processes in conjunction with R&D; liaise with R&D to solve process problems; recommend equipment, product recipe and process changes to R&D on completion of trials and optimisation work; conduct feasibility studies on projects as per the site''s project list; complete and submit CAR''s for capital projects under technical control; manage approved capital projects within approved budgets; commission and hand over capital projects to Production Department according to project schedules; prepare and issue technical reports for trials, investigations and projects; prepare and review standard operating procedures; initiate, drive and close-out MOC for process changes; adhere to all site, business unit and company regulations; conduct hazard reviews and investigations into safety incidents and assist with the implementation and sustainability of 5S principles on the production site.  Exposure in a production or technical environment, preferably within the chemical industry preferred.  Experience of ISO 9001, 14001 and OSHAS 18001.  Position is based in the Vaal.  Own transport and valid drivers license essential.
