POSITION INFO:


The Finance department is now accepting applications for a Procurement Officer – someone who can add his / her skills to the team and that takes great pride and pleasure in providing efficient services.

The purpose of this role is to plan, direct, coordinate, and / or evaluate the purchasing and operational equipment processes and protocols involved in purchasing, and also to control the costs of materials, products, produce and services itself.

We consider the following as essential:

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent, with Accounting until Grade 12 as a subject,
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role,
  • Must have excellent knowledge of MS Office and accounting programs (e.g. Pastel, SAP, etc.).

Duties & Responsibilities (areas and indicators listed are not exhaustive and may be changed / supplemented to accommodate business needs from time to time):

  • Stock control - Compile the monthly stock take roster; Monitor monthly operating equipment stock takes for accuracy and completeness; Process the actual Operational Equipment (OE) counts in SAP and compile and process differences; Attend and monitor stock takes to ensure that policies are adhered to.
  • Buying and cost control - Analyse cost of sales, investigate and report anomalies and reasons; Maintain information records for fixed / contracted pricing for produce suppliers on SAP; Contact suppliers to schedule or expedite deliveries and to resolve shortages, missed or late deliveries, and other problems for non-food & beverage purchases; Analyse high volume / high value and bulk purchases and negotiate better prices or source new suppliers.
  • Process and administration –  Prepare monthly reports – e.g. OE variances, beverage losses, moving average prices, stock controls, I-docs, etc.; Prepare, maintain, and review purchasing files, reports and price lists; Respond to customer and supplier inquiries about order status, changes, or cancellations.
  • Customer service and relationship management - Engage with departments to understand operational needs and be proactive to assist with the sourcing of products; Assist in training of new managers to ensure the correct systems and processes are followed in all operational areas.

Skills required:

  • Heaps of passion for the industry;
  • Detail orientation and organising skills;
  • Ability to multitask and work well under pressure;
  • An understanding of the demands within the hospitality industry will be an advantage.

Adverse working conditions:

Stock takes might take place after normal working hours and / or on weekends. Availability to attend these might be required.
