Procurement Specialist: Indirects

SUMMARY:
A Leading FMCG company based in DURBAN is looking for a Buyer / Category Manager, focusing on indirect procurement spent for logistics and warehousing services.

POSITION INFO:

Key Performance Indicators:

Operational Procurement

• Lead Procurement projects to tender for goods and/or services in own area of responsibility
• Ensure quality, service level and cost of goods and/or services procured is delivered according to agreed contracts
• Execute related operational steps, e.g. Purchase Order coordination, follow-ups etc.
• Drive savings initiatives
• Analyze (K)PI performance of own supplier portfolio continuously to identify additional savings or other improvement opportunities
• Support increasing the spend coverage by Procurement
• Ensure Procurement related master data is maintained properly
• Clarification of invoice payment queries raised by Accounts Payable Team
• Support increasing the application of the Code of Conduct for Suppliers
• Support implementation of global and local Procurement standards and that all processes follow the Procurement Compliance Guidelines.
• Participates in development of local Procurement strategy

Continuous Improvement

• Apply continuous improvements to Procurement related processes
• Support projects for implementation of new Procurement tools or processes

Experience / Qualifications

• University or similar degree – ideally in Supply Chain Management, Business Science, Industrial Engineering or related
• Computer literate, i.e., proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Powerpoint)
• Working knowledge of SAP (especially MM module) would be advantageous
• High degree of motivation, initiative, thinking ahead and driving results
• Good ability to communicate with a wide range of personalities
• High level of attention to detail, accuracy and ability to prioritize
• Minimum 5 years work experience, ideally in Procurement
• FMCG experience is preferred
• Procurement Marketing and Sales services category experience would be advantageous
• A good understanding of Supply Chain and Procurement principles and standards
