SUMMARY:
Our client, a well-established player in the automotive and FMCG sectors, is looking for an experienced Product Development Specialist to lead the expansion of their product offering.

Position: Product Development Specialist
Summary: Responsible for product development in the company
Reporting to: Managing Director
Location: Cape Town

Responsibility:

Conduct detailed market and vehicle park analysis (passenger, light, and heavy commercial vehicles)
Identify and recommend OE and aftermarket parts across a wide range of categories:
- Filtration, Braking, Ignition Systems, Suspension, Clutches, Batteries, Car Care, Fasteners, Automotive Equipment, and more
Source and evaluate suppliers (Desamark, Bosch, SA-based, and international)
Collaborate with Procurement to manage initial stock of new ranges
Develop pricing and discount structures in coordination with the MD and PM
Ensure national product range alignment (90% common, 10% branch-specific)
Stay ahead of trends through competitor and market analysis
Oversee the creation of product catalogues and ensure accurate integration into the ERP system (Kerridge)

15+ years’ proven experience in a similar role, preferably within the Automotive Aftermarket
Deep understanding of automotive product categories and supplier networks
Strong commercial acumen with pricing, sourcing, and product lifecycle expertise
ERP knowledge (preferably Kerridge) and catalogue management experience
A collaborative mindset with the ability to work across departments and branches

Play a strategic role in shaping product offerings for a growing company
Collaborate directly with top leadership
Influence national stock strategy and branch-specific adaptations
