Description

Here, you will make an impact by:

  • Managing professional and support level employees within Manufacturing to ensure production volumes and schedules as well as cost and quality of production are met.
  • Handle a variety of non-routine and difficult inquiries, whilst collaborating with the team to determine an amicable solution.
  • Determining directions, priorities and assign resources with full accountability for results of the functional area.
  • Provide direct supervision to assigned employees through leadership, coaching, training, development, allocating work assignment, review of progress in achieving objectives, performance appraisals, diversity and reviewing and approving work results conducted by direct reports.
  • Consulting with leadership team to set short- to medium-term strategic direction and operating plans for a typically small to medium sized manufacturing operation.

Responsibilities for the role will be the following:

  • Adapts differing techniques and methods to deal with variations in work conditions and operations to solve complex problems. Supervises the development and implementation of improvements and/or solutions to work processes and tools. Reports to manager on key milestones and critical business initiatives. When necessary, the supervisor is consulted for guidance in problem areas.
  • Manages underlings with clearly defined roles within functional disciplines, such as production, quality, engineering, materials control, warehousing, maintenance, health/safety/environment, etc. Determines priorities and timetables, assigns resources/tasks, and provides performance feedback. Accountable for the activities and results of their subordinates.
  • Supervises development and implementation of functional project plans. Leads projects, linking project steps to business strategies. Ensures plans support business needs and goals and that project objectives and deadlines are met.
  • Handles non-routine and difficult inquiries. requiring significant interpretation and the use of strong analytic skills.
  • Has a considerable impact on the direct work group/team, providing leadership. Decisions may affect the operational effectiveness of multiple work groups or teams,
  • Work tasks encompass concepts within multiple disciplines/practices which may include more than one department/location.
  • Working tasks might include:
    • Develop and implement work rules and schedules.
    • Reviews and approves non-routine and difficult functional analysis conducted by subordinates.
    • Establishes objectives for rates and yields to reduce costs and improve customer satisfaction.
    • Promotes quality and production improvements using statistical process control.
    • Takes corrective action on defects in quality or productivity issues.
    • Manage, direct, implement, and task delegation of assigned plant operations.
    • Facilitate plant meetings such as plant reviews, plant capacity and utilisation planning reviews, plant staff/resource scheduling meetings, etc.
    • Creates general reporting regarding plant operations, linking to business unit performance. Presents to plant management.
  • Understands and enforces corporate/location policies and procedures.

Profile

Skills and Expertise

  • A Bachelor level university/college degree or higher from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of 6-10 years relevant working experience in a manufacturing production environment or in FMCG Production.
  • Knowledge of Lean six sigma will be advantageous.
  • In-depth knowledge and experience with the theories and practices of one or more disciplines, such as production, quality, engineering, materials control, warehousing, maintenance, health/safety/environment, etc. In-depth knowledge of assigned area of responsibility,
  • Knowledge of computer programs and corporate systems relevant to the assigned area of responsibility
