SUMMARY:
An opportunity has become available for a Production Cell Leader with a client in the automotive sector.
POSITION INFO:
- Manage employee relations – Resolve team members grievances; conduct corrective action (misconduct) to written warning level; Conduct investigations into transgressions of code of conduct.
- Manage team communications – conduct daily mini business /start of shift meetings; ensure visual displays updated and communicated; Communicate all company policy/company communication/plans – per that communicated by shift leader. Record all meetings/shift handovers.
- Manage resources – cell members: monitor employee numbers, performance, attendance; conduct return to work interviews (sick absence); motivate recruitment of vacant positions; Identify skill/learning gaps of individual team members; complete, understand and communicate the skills matrix and learning plans to team members.
- Manage resources – production operation (machinery, equipment) – Document machine performance – track and provide figures to Shift leader for analysis; Report breakdowns and follow SOP on to ensure achievement of performance targets – ensuring maximum productivity and minimized waste and downtime.
- Manage resource – materials/tools/consumables – Check availability of resources in advance (to ensure uninterrupted production; Check availability of materials, tools, consumables; assign responsibilities of tools per individuals; ensure materials/PPE/equipment used correctly and stores/returned in correct state. Take action to ensure uninterrupted performance to production plan.
- Operate press/production machinery.
- Ensure legislative compliance – to all regulatory and statutory legislation i.e. employment equity, safety; health, ergonomics; labour relations act; basic conditions of employment act & council regulations.
- Safety & Health – Assist shift leader in incident investigations; take corrective actions where non-conformance occurs; Initiate medicals for personnel changing positions; plan release of personnel for routine medicals.
- Ensure compliance – Company Quality Management systems – problem solve; close out audit non-conformances and participate in all quality related audit preparations/forums/problem-solving.
- Complete documentation – all compliance documentation e.g. timeous submission of overtime plans for pre-approval; all documentation related to staff movement e.g. wage admin, requests for staff & time & attendance records; documentation relevant to stock movements; all cell level performance documentation e.g. OEE records.
Requirements:
- Matric (preferably with English and Maths)
- Production/Operational Management or similar qualification advantageous
- Basic computer literacy
