Production Manager

SUMMARY:
Main Purpose of the Job:

• Reporting to the Production Executive, the incumbent will be responsible for the management of processes and activities of a small to medium group of employees engaged in performing a variety of production operations whilst maintaining and implementing company policies, procedures, standards and driving the disciplines of World Class Manufacturing principles.

• South African Citizen
• Degree or Diploma in Production / Operations Management / Engineering
• 8-10 years working experience in a manufacturing environment of which 2 years must be at management level in a small to medium scale manufacturing concern
• Sound knowledge and experience in EPS/XPS Polystyrene extrusion will be an added advantage Proven track record of prior performance
• Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a small group of employees
• Strong background in continuous improvement and lean manufacturing
• Willingness to work shifts and overtime as and when required.
• Physical and Environmental requirements: Incumbent must be able to work in a variety of environmental conditions with exposure to the heat, dust & chemical elements.

• Manage, monitor and evaluate production processes in accordance to set production targets
• Day-to-day management of production personnel, their on-going development and overall performance
• Manage, oversee and report product quality parameters
• Develop, implement and maintain people, plant, machinery and equipment efficiency improvements Manage raw material stock levels
• Enforces safety practices and actively promote plant safety, environmental programs and procedures that are in compliance with corporate and regulatory requirements.

• Sound Management & Leadership skills
• Sound knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies and lean manufacturing principles
• Excellent understanding of manufacturing processes, production priorities and problems
• Strong Technical Ability
• Excellent Interpersonal skills
• Excellent understanding of bill of materials (BOM’s)
• Knowledge and ability to apply Total Production Management principles
• Numerical skills
• Excellent Written and Verbal Communication (Afrikaans and English) skills with the ability to effectively communicate throughout all levels of the organisation
• Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and to react to situations with a strong sense of urgency
