Production Manager

Our client, a company in the agricultural industry situated in Stellenbosch, is looking for a Production Manager to join their team.

Role objective:

Expanding the business in the geographical area through delivering good quality work at an efficient pace and keeping costs to a minimum. Ensure employees are motivated.

Key responsibilities:

Operational:

• Draft and communicate the daily operational plan as well as the product and equipment requirements to the Operators / Teams.
• Oversee the end-to-end production process at the client.
• Support with production process, including transporting of teams, driving tractor and operating production equipment, fixing small breakages, etc.
• Continuous communication and updates to the Operations Manager and clients.
• Submit monthly costs and operational requirement information to the Operations Manager in a timely manner.
• Maintenance and tidiness of workplace, storeroom, equipment, and vehicles.

Marketing:

• Identify and peruse new clients.
• Build relationships with current and potential clients.
• Identify any other opportunity to market the company’s current services / products or new areas for the company to expand in.

Stock management:

• Manage product and equipment levels according to operational plan and always ensure sufficient levels.

Team management:

• Ensure sufficient number of team members to deliver on operational plan, which includes arranging of casuals.
• Performance management of team members.
• Motivate team to ensure quality work at an efficient rate.

Maintenance:

• Continuous maintenance and service of equipment, tools, and vehicles, including proactive checking and servicing.

Budget management:

• Manage and track own budget.
• Identify and implement cost saving initiatives.
• Record keeping of expenses according to company procedures.

General:

• Assist Operations Manager with any other task.
• Understand and adhere to the company’s operating procedure as well as Health and Safety procedures and also ensure their teams adheres to these.
• Any other reasonable task required by company.

Key Requirements:

• Grade 12 / Matric.
• Minimum of 2 years previous experience in Agriculture or relevant field and managing teams.
• Driver’s license code B.
• Tractor license.
• PCO license.
• Dangerous Goods license.
• Good physical health.

• Must like the outdoor life, tractors and must not be afraid to get your hands dirty!

General:

• This role reports to the Operations Manager.
• Travel will be required.
• The Driver / Operator /Team Leader reports to this role.

Area: Stellenbosch and surrounding area.

Starting date: As soon as possible.

Salary package: R20 000 – R25 000 per month.
