JOB SUMMARY:
A chemical manufacturing company in Blackheath is recruiting for a Production Manager. This person is involved with the planning, coordination, technical management, and control of manufacturing processes.

The person must be strong and technically orientated, bilingual, and have strong interpersonal and people skills. He/she must be able to motivate production staff, handle pressure and work to tight deadlines.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Duties:

Time Management

Attend the Production Planning meeting at 07:30 each morning.
Familiarise yourself with the workload for the day and plan accordingly.
Attend the Back-order meeting at 09:00 each morning.
Monitor Production staff and know their whereabouts

Production

Keep a record of staff absent from work and give feedback to Management
Know what jobs Production staff are busy with and where the panics are
Keep up the pressure to complete the job(s) in time
Continuously move around to monitor staff in various work areas
Ensure tanks, equipment, containers, etc. are clean before the next job is started
Prompt Mixers to submit samples for testing and don’t allow tanks to stand “idle” unnecessarily
Ensure containers are clean and filled to the correct volume/weight
Spot check labels to make sure they are properly affixed
Check that product is correctly labeled and that the Batch No. and Expiry Date appear on all products
Spot check caps to see that they are tightened properly
Ensure job cards are filled out correctly and that batch yield is within range.
Pay attention to detail

House Keeping

Ensure all Production areas are left clean, tidy, and safe at the end of each working day
Oversee daily/weekly cleaning of the Plant as per the Cleaning Schedule
Report all safety and maintenance matters to the Factory Manager

Requirements:

Matric
Valid driver’s licence
At least 5 years management and relevant experience
To start ASAP
Reside in the Western cape (Northern Suburbs)
Solid Work track record with references.
Staff management experience

The person will ideally come from a similar environment and will have worked for 3-5 years in management/supervisory positions. A relevant tertiary qualification will be advantageous.
