Production Manager - Automotive Industry AA/EE

SUMMARY:
Do you have minimum five years experience as a Production Planner with a mechanical or industrial engineer tertiary qualification? Our client involved in the automobile technical engineering sector requires your solid track record to manage the functions of Production Planning, Purchasing, Logistics & Inventory control.

POSITION INFO:

REQUIREMENTS

Matric, Tertiary qualification in Engineering (Industrial or Mechanical)

Strong related experience in production planning, Logistics’, Computer based systems (IT) & Project management

Added studies in a field of interest related to a Production Inventory Management - i.e. Certificate in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) or South African Production and Inventory Control Society (SAPICS) advanced production control diploma, will be advantageous

Between 5 -10 years’ experience in a Production role where skills sets related to production planning, logistics’ ,IT and Engineering principles actively utilised in a manufacturing environment

Above average computer literacy i.e. able to design spreadsheets, write reports and understand database management systems

Motor Industry knowledge and preferably related experience

Experience working with production planning software e.g. Syspro

Experience preparing production budgets and forecasts

Engineering experience

Able to meet strict deadlines & able to identify abnormal production situations and apply corrective actions to plans

Accuracy and high attention levels to detail

Persistent –able to follow tasks through with high levels of assertion

Projects co-ordination exposure

Good communication skills (verbal and written)

Quality and continuous improvement driven

Able to operate in a team environment

Flexible in terms of working hours (some overtime may be required occasionally)

DUTIES

Reporting to the Production Control Manager

Production Planning: Update and plan production schedules, monitor production performance, Communicate changes in production schedules to production sector’s e.g. Sales, Production Firing, Final Inspection

Purchasing: Establish projected order quantity, perform inventory control, Liaise with Sales & Marketing when ordering for new parts. Issue advance notification to the forming plants.

Update purchase orders in the Syspro system

Database Management: Coordinate and plan stock take schedules, monitor stock trends, and report variances.

Budgeting: Data collection for yearly budget reports, establish green body order levels based on projected sales forecasts.

Projects: Lead and Co-ordinate short to medium term Projects related to new part introduction and or process improvement related to production planning.

Inventory Control: Ensure correct stock levels across all part numbers based on latest customer demand forecast. Co-ordinate stock count in-conjunction with Finance.

Supplier Management: co-ordinate the activities of supplier’s who is contracted with the company for the functions of customs clearance, cartage of substrates to their Plant.

Salary: R50k   dependent on experience
