Production Manager - CMT

SUMMARY:
Do you have experience as a Production Manager within the fabrics and upholstery sector, managing the processes of cut, manufacture, and trim? Our Client is a well established manufacturing concern based in Airport Industria.

POSITION INFO:

 REQUIREMENTS

 Matric, relevant qualifications advantageous plus own transport

 Experience running a multi-faceted CMT line working with heavy fabrics and upholstery.

 Ability to manage and run production to schedule.

 Knowledge of screen printing would be advantageous.

 Must have experience in patternmaking and product development.

 Fluent in English and Afrikaans

 Computer literacy with experience in Excel and Word.

 Knowledge and experience in LEAN manufacturing methods.

Quality and production focused.

DUTIES

Reporting to the Operations Manager

Areas of responsibility: Cutting Room, CMT line, Cushion Line, Printing Department

Manage clean check of all incoming canvas and print orders.

Check on fabric/thread/ancillary stock levels – follow up on order progress and delivery date.

Check on screen print ink stock levels – follow up on order progress and delivery date.

Check if Possi/Screen is available for the order, if not liaise with Graphics department for due date – follow up on progress and delivery date.

Keep track of all work in progress in all sections/departments.

Conduct daily morning meetings with each department to discuss the day’s requirements, obstacles and solutions.

Attend daily meeting with Operations Manager to report on attendees, absenteeism, production progress, obstacles and delays.

Do first off checks of new production items.

Conduct regular quality checks on all departments.

Manage production and progress on an hourly basis and ensure that visual management boards are updated.

Manage stock levels of material/components kept in departments and make out PO request to Log Manager if required – follow up on order progress and delivery date.

Ensure housekeeping and  systems are in place at all times.

Ensure all health and safety requirements are met.

Ensure discipline is maintained in all departments and that transgressions are dealt with in the appropriate manner.

Manage absenteeism, keep records and conduct return to work interviews for all staff that have been absent.

Constantly assess and re-assess production methods and workflow to find areas of possible improvement.

Communicate clearly and adequately with other departments and managers to overcome daily obstacles.

Carry out regular skills assessments and identify training needs and weak areas and ensure upskilling and cross training is done.

Manage all preventative maintenance ensuring completion is on time according to schedules.

Manage all tools and equipment in the departments ensuring are kept in perfect working order at all times.

Salary: R22 – R25000  dependent on experience
