- Grade 12
- Diploma in PRODUCTION MANAGEMENT
- OR
- MECH /ELEC ENGINEERING
- 3 years PRODUCTION MANAGEMENT experience in TIMBER /PLYWOOD / MANUFACTURING
Job Purpose:
To manage the Production Department in order to achieve the operational objectives of budgeted quantities, quality and cost in a safe and environmentally friendly.
Reports to the Factory Manager, part of the management team at CLIENT
Review plant performance on a daily basis and ensure Engineering problems are addressed. Continuing problems or critical issues should be highlighted and communicated to Engineering Manager.
ISO 9001 Quality-
ISO14 001 Environmental-
OSHAS 18001 Risk- system and all associated policies and procedures.
Audit the effectiveness and adherence of all Safety registers for compliance.
Address issues reported as a result of safety inspections conducted.
Maintain involvement on a day-to-day basis on each aspect of Production
Ensure product results are within tolerance levels.
Closely manage quality and adherence to standards. Pareto quality problems on an 80/20 principle and have action plans to address the biggest quality problems.
Keep control of all consumables, and justify to the Factory Manager any extraordinary usages or where budget has been exceeded.
Closely manage Press mat usage
Closely manage Caulsheet usage, Caulsheet register and re-ordering via IDAR system.
Closely manage Melamine paper FIFO.
Closely manage consumptions on Woodpro.
Ensure correct use and data capturing on Woodpro.
Ensure strict housekeeping in area of responsibility.
Lead, develop and motivate team towards achieving operational objectives (24/7 operation with shifts).
Responsible for succession planning within the area with appropriate training needs identified.
Ensure multi-skilling of direct and indirect reports, thus ensuring effective performance whilst on standby.
Promote continuous improvement and innovative thinking.
Ensure compliance with disciplinary code
Control leaves and overtime for staff.
Ensure structured review of performance appraisals.
Interview candidates for vacant positions.
Submit proposals for equipment major maintenance for the next budget year to the Engineering Manager by July month-end of each year.
Control overtime- & Consumables budget for Department.
