JOB SUMMARY:
The University of Fort Hare is seeking applications from appropriately qualified and experienced candidates for the post of Professor or Associate Professor in the Faculty of Education in one of the following areas of specialisation:

Educational Leadership and Management
Sociology of Education
Philosophy of Education

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Minimum Requirements:

Doctoral degree in Education
At least 7 years’ experience for Full Professor / 5 years’ experience for Associate Professor in higher education
Extensive undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and research experience in one of the indicated areas of specialisation
Track record of accredited national and international research publications commensurate with the academic rank level of a professor or associate professor
Extensive postgraduate supervision experience including successful Doctoral supervision
Evidence of successful fundraising for research
Evidence of academic leadership and/or mentoring of less experienced researchers

Added Advantages

Specialisation in more than one of the following: Educational Leadership and Management, Sociology of Education or Philosophy of Education
Evidence of professional and academic standing in the field of specialisation
Recognition as a leading scholar in a chosen area of research (e.g. NRF rating, international keynote/ plenaries);
Evidence of attracting and working with post-doctoral research fellows ;
Evidence of strong community engagement integrated with teaching, learning and research.

Duties:

Teach undergraduate and postgraduate teacher education courses in the area of specialisation;
Supervise Masters and Doctoral students;
Undertake publishable academic research;
Provide leadership in curriculum review and development
Participate in community engagement integrated with teaching and/or research;
Perform academic leadership and related administrative duties;
Secure external research grants and establish research programs.
