POSITION INFO:
Minimum Requirements
· Doctoral degree in Mathematical Sciences
· At least 10 years’ work experience in higher education for a Full Professor / 7 years’ experience for Associate Professor
· Extensive undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and research experience in Applied Mathematics
· Track record of research and publications in accredited national and internationally-recognized research journals commensurate with the academic rank of Full Professor / Associate Professor
· Postgraduate supervision experience including successful Doctoral supervision
· Evidence of successful fundraising for research in the field of Applied Mathematics
· Evidence of academic leadership andmentorship of academics.
Added Advantages
· Preferable specialisation in one or both of the following: numerical analysis and mathematical modelling (e.g. financial mathematics or bio-mathematics)
· Evidence of attracting and working with post-doctoral fellows
· Evidence of professional and academic standing in the field of specialisation (e.g. NRF rating, international keynote addresses, etc.)
· Evidence of national and international collaboration
· Evidence of strong community engagement integrated with teaching, learning and research.
Duties
· Provide academic leadership in research, curriculum design, development and implementation
· Teach undergraduate and postgraduate modules in Applied Mathematics
· Supervise Honours, Masters and Doctoral students
· Meet research publication requirements for the appropriate academic rank
· Secure external research grants and establish research programmes
· Participate in community engagement integrated with research and/or teaching
· Contribute to academic leadership and mentorship of academic staff
· Participate in administrative duties at departmental, faculty and university levels.
